Janet Evanovich’s audiobooks- Abridged or Unabridged?

I really like Janet Evanovich’s Stephanie Plum series on audiobook but I’ve only listened to the later ones. I want to start at the beginning but I don’t know if I should buy the abridged or unabridged version of One for the Money. Is it worth it to buy the unabridged? Is the book better abridged?

Unabridged, no question.

The author includes what she does for a reason, and audio versions which leave out text are leaving out parts the author did not choose to exclude. Depending on how well the abridgement was done, vital elements you need to understand what’s going on or why a character acts as s/he does may be missing in the abridged version. More often it’s just the heart and guts, so you have the basic story but no soul.

Get the unabridged, which contains every word in the print version.
